April 12 The National Climate Change Roadmap (NCCR) was released and Jianwei is honored to be one of the working group members. The full report can be found here.
April 06-09 Xuehan, Jonathan, Lahiru, and Jianwei attended the 2024 ARD Research Symposium held in Nashville TN. Most impressively, Dr. Kevin Kephart, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Bioenergy, climate, and environment emphasized environmental justice (EJ) in all research, extension and education programs. The top two key area to improve are Participatory Science, and Data collection related to EJ.
April 03 Xuehan, Matthew, Jonathan and Aviyan attended the 3-Minute-Thesis (3MT) competition during the Graduate Student Appreciation Week at TSU. Congratulations to Matthew who was rewarded the top three winners!
March 29 The former Ph.D. student Siyang's manuscript was accepted in the Journal of Geophysical Research - Biogeosciences (JGRB), and the teamwork has received tremendous support from colleagues at the University of Oklahoma, Oak Ridge National Lab, and Wuhan University. December 1-12 Jianwei attended the COP28 in Dubai UAE, during which he and a few other faculty members from four different universities led a cohort of 12 students from diverse universities including TSU in participating and hosting various events and activities.
December 07 Jianwei was awarded a certificate for having successfully completed the Climate Law and Governance Specialization Course by the University of Cambridge and University of Dubai. Please check here for the certificate.
August 28 Congratulations to Xuehan who has been chosen to receive a scholarship to attend the Women in Agribusiness Summit in Nashville on September 26-28, 2023. The scholarship program was established to recognize outstanding students passionate about agribusiness careers.

October 16 Precious's abstract was accepted in 14th Annual Graduate Climate Conference which is to be held virtually this year.
October 14 Siyang's manuscript was accepted in Nature Communications, which found out the long-term incubation data (>1.5 year) could improve the model projection of decade-long soil organic carbon dynamics under climate warming. Jianwei is the corresponding author.

March 06 Jianwei's manuscript was accepted in PLOS ONE and it elucidated that nitrogen fertilization elevated topsoil organic carbon and nitrogen contents in switchgrass and gamagrass croplands, which however was likely driven by different mechanisms.
January 21 A full day training of Li-Cor 8100 analyzer was successfully conducted at the College of Agriculture. Thanks to all participants from various research labs and groups!
January 13 Jianwei's manuscript was accepted in Scientific Reports and it elucidated that nitrogen fertilizer, lack other management practices such as tillage, could restructure the spatial patterns of soil organic carbon and total nitrogen in bioenergy croplands.

October 19 Jianwei's manuscript was accepted in Global Change Biology, which integrated 22-year ecosystem carbon measurements with a mechanistic model and improved key microbial paramter estimates and long-term soil projections under climate warming.
October 19 Jianwei's coauthored manuscript (the corresponding author) was accepted in Geoderma, which discovered that relative to initial conditions, subsurface soil layers (20-60cm) subjected to long term fertilization remain as net carbon sink in the indigenously high fertility croplands and as net carbon source at low fertility croplands, disregardless fertilization treatments (cropping with no fertilization, chemical fertilizers, and manure).
September 6 Jianwei's manuscript was accepted in Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE), which provides an experimental protocol to sample soils in a heterogeneous plot using a spatially-explicit and statistically-rigorous sampling design.

October 16 Precious's abstract was accepted in 14th Annual Graduate Climate Conference which is to be held virtually this year.
October 14 Siyang's manuscript was accepted in Nature Communications, which found out the long-term incubation data (>1.5 year) could improve the model projection of decade-long soil organic carbon dynamics under climate warming. Jianwei is the corresponding author.

October 19 Jianwei's manuscript was accepted in Global Change Biology, which integrated 22-year ecosystem carbon measurements with a mechanistic model and improved key microbial paramter estimates and long-term soil projections under climate warming.
October 19 Jianwei's coauthored manuscript (the corresponding author) was accepted in Geoderma, which discovered that relative to initial conditions, subsurface soil layers (20-60cm) subjected to long term fertilization remain as net carbon sink in the indigenously high fertility croplands and as net carbon source at low fertility croplands, disregardless fertilization treatments (cropping with no fertilization, chemical fertilizers, and manure).
September 6 Jianwei's manuscript was accepted in Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE), which provides an experimental protocol to sample soils in a heterogeneous plot using a spatially-explicit and statistically-rigorous sampling design.
